The Karachi Port handled 83,144 tonnes of cargo comprising 64,978 tonnes of import cargo and 18,166 tonnes of export cargo including 5,045 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 64,978 tonnes comprised of 34,571 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1.102 tonnes of bulk cargo; 1,265 tonnes of ammonium; 18,200 tonnes of coal and 9,840 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 18,166 tonnes comprised of 8,966 tonnes of containerised cargo and 9,200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,045 containers comprising of 2,419 containers import and 2,626 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 799 of 20's and 790 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 20 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 268 of 20's and 94 of 40's loaded containers while 328 of 20's and 921 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were nine ships namely Hyundai Faith, RHL Constantia, Wan Hai-503, Unique Developer, Pan Spirit, Vantage Sky, Ocean Indigo and Spring Shine carrying containers, oil tanker, coal, rock phosphate, molasses and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were six vessels viz. Ever Decent, Chemroute Pegasus, Asbong-1, Al Mayros, Spring Shine and Da Kang carrying containers, oil tankers, coal and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 211,372 tonnes comprising 161,421 tonnes of import cargo and 49,951 tonnes of export cargo including 3,562 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 161,421 tonnes includes 41,697 tonnes of furnace oil; 2,805 tonnes of palm oil; 43,384 tonnes of coal; 51,000 tonnes of LNG; 2,350 tonnes of palm kernel; 2,458 tonnes of bitumen and 17,727 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 49,951 tonnes includes 49,951 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,562 containers comprising of 789 containers import and 2,773 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. There were four ships namely CV MOL Gateway, CV Maersk Kinloss, MV Reem-III and MT Madeiro carrying containers, bitumen and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while five more ships namely CV MSC Maria Elena, MV Coventry, MV Parnassos, MT Maran Gas Ascieplus and MT Sea Luck-III carrying containers, canola seeds, coal, LNG and furnace oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eleven vessels viz. CV MSC Maria Elena, CV MOL Gateway, CV Maersk Kinloss, MV Dewi Saras Wati, MV Reem-III, MV Parnassos, MV Navios Oriana, MV Coventry, MT Maran Gas Ascieplus, MT Sea Luck-III and MT Madeiro were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, palm kernel, bitumen, canola seeds, coal, LNG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as seventeen ships namely CV Tucapel, CV Alliance Norfolk, MV Ocean Princess-1, MV Amadeus, MV Stahia, MV Shan Dong Chong, MV Arcadia, MT Maria-III, MT Maersk Pearl, MT Lion-M, MT Glorious, MT Freight Margie, MT Wall Eye, MT Silver Entalina, MT Chembulk Shanghai, MT Atlas and MT Phonik carrying containers, Roro, bitumen, soyabean, coal, LPG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four vessels viz. CV Tucapel, CV Alliance Norfolk, MT Maersk Pearl and MT Silver Entalina carrying containers, roro, furnace oil and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday. There were two ships namely CV CMA CGM Mumbai and CV Safmarine Nyassa carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Thursday.
